AC 2011 Syrah 5L
2011 Syrah (5L)
WINEMAKER NOTES
The nose of this wine bursts with aromas of currants, mixed berries, dates and dark red cherries. Pretty notes of violets and lavender linger in the background. Black pepper combines with smoke to enhance the marriage of berries, both blue and black. A surprising twist of green olive tapenade underlies a balanced combination of acid and tannin. The mouthwatering finish is delicate yet lingering.
—Jean-François Pellet, Winemaker
THE 2011 VINTAGE:
From beginning to end, this was a cool year. The Walla Walla Valley experienced no 100-
degree days for the first time in well over a decade. Despite the cooler weather, our vineyards were still able to reach full ripening, with harvest occurring approximately three weeks late. The longer hang time led to layered, nuanced flavors with vibrancy and natural balance.
